This sweater is named after the Vanger brothers, who were fishermen from Moddergat. The pattern of this sweater has been traced back through an old photo taken in Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen around 1948. In the photo, the brothers Kees and Jitze Vanger can be seen. Jitze is wearing a fisherman's sweater with horizontal stripes that strongly resembles the fishing sweaters worn in Wierum in the early twentieth century. Notably, there is a button closure on the shoulder.

An authentic and regional product from Northeast Friesland. This warm and comfortable sweater keeps you warm during cold winter days. This fisherman's sweater is made from Wadden wool: wool from Northeast Friesland, from the sea dike and from terp mounds. The sweaters have a characteristic and recognizable pattern from Wierum.
